Stay agile - be flexible but act strategically

The globalized world with its rapid technological advances and intercultural exchanges makes increasingly higher demands on companies and organizations, be it private businesses or the public sector. Cross-border economic relationships, increasingly fast, direct and often international communication channels, several working-languages, time zones and flexible working hours pose growing and continually new challenges to company executives and the leadership of organizations as well as to their employees and coworkers. Adapting to this development often means having to change strategy – be it in order to stay competitive or in order to become more competitive.

Why good communication is so important

The process of change and readjustment often comes with insecurity and dissatisfaction and can harbor conflict. If this conflict is not duly recognized and acknowledged, addressed and managed, it can do major harm to a company or organization. For instance, if the working atmosphere among the employees and between hierarchies is suffering it can seriously compromise open, direct but nonetheless appreciative communication and thus diminish trust. Negative social dynamics may not only obstruct your workflow but may also stand in the way of your company's or organization's overall success.

Getting everyone on board

We will, if necessary, function as navigational support to you as captain of the ship and help you get everyone on board. This is very important, because at the end of the day, you're all in the same boat. We will help you steer your ship through rough waters and stormy weather and get you and your crew to a safe haven. There can be numerous occasions for a "storm". For example, if two or more companies or organizations from different cultural backgrounds and with completely different business philosophies merge through M&A processes, if shareholding structures or investors change. If there's a change of culture or politics at the top of the organization or the company, because the CEO, the board, the shareholders, the government, etc. want it, or simply because your organization's or company's success depends on a conceptual and strategic reorientation and recalibration. These transitions often have structural and financial consequences and are rarely conflict-free.

 

Impulses from impartial observers

Sometimes the process of change demands a new kind of thinking and the application of new leadership tools, inspired by impulses from the outside. And sometimes it's also necessary for an organization or company to receive impartial feedback from third parties who have "no stakes" in your enterprise and how you restructure it.

Strategy development

The causes and reasons for structural or procedural changes are often multifactorial. Whichever constitutes the most aptly suited strategy for managing those changes isn't always immediately obvious. In order to determine that, it usually takes proper stock-taking of current conditions, a thorough environment analysis and the development of a new and clear vision of the future of your business or organization. This holds true for every entrepreneur, especially with regard to doing business with and in China.

 

Outside view
